Basic Concepts Solidworks 3D Solid Geometry

A Solidworks model consists of 3D solid geometry in a part or assembly document. Drawings are created from models, or by drafting views in a drawing document. Typically, you begin with a sketch, create a base feature, and then add more features to your model • A SolidWorks model consists of parts, assemblies, and drawings. • Typically, you begin with a sketch, create a base feature, and then add more features to your model. • You are free to refine your design by adding, changing, or reordering features. • Associativity between parts, assemblies, and drawings assures that changes made to one view are automatically made to all other views. • You can generate drawings or assemblies at any time in the design process. • The SolidWorks software lets you customize functionality to suit your needs. • Click Tools, Options on the main menu to display the available System Options and Document Properties tabs. • The SolidWorks software saves your work for you. The auto recover option automatical...

Engineering Drawing and Related Documentation Practices

Drawing Templates in this section are based upon the American Society of Mechanical Engineers ASME Y14 American National Standard for Engineering Drawing and Related Documentation Practices. These standards represent the drawing practices used by U.S. industry. The ASME Y14 practices supersede the American National Standards Institute ANSI standards. The ASME Y14 Engineering Drawing and Related Documentation Practices are published by The American Society of Mechanical Engineers, New York, NY. References to the current ASME Y14 standards are used with permission. Only a portion of the ASME Y14 American National Standard for Engineering Drawing and Related Documentation Practices are presented in this book. Information presented in Projects 1 - 5 represent sample illustrations of a drawing, view and or dimension type. The ASME Y14 Standards Committee develops and maintains additional Drawing Standards. Members of these committees are from Industry, Department of Defense and Academia. ...

Dimension Types in Sketches Solidworks

When you selected the Smart Dimension tool in the shortcut bar while creating the sketch, you may have noticed that there were a few more dimension types Cr e a t e a B a s e E x t r u s io n 9 5 available. The Smart Sketch dimension type will be the type you will use most of the time, but it still wouldn’t hurt to become familiar with all the dimension types:  Smart Dimension. The Smart Dimension tool will be your most used tool when defining sketch elements. Smart Dimension automatically selects the dimension type that will be used based on the sketch entities that are selected. Not only does Smart Dimension determine the dimension type based on the type of entity selected, but it also can choose another dimension type, such as angles and point-to-point dimensions, based on where you place the dimensions.  Horizontal Dimension. The Horizontal Dimension tool creates a dimension where the dimension line is horizontal and the extension lines are vertical regardless of the entit...

Controlling Colors Layer AutoCad

Each layer has a color associated with it. Using different colors for different layers helps you visually distinguish different information in the drawing. An object’s color also may control appearance during printing. There are two different ways of selecting the color for objects on your screen. The best way is usually to set the layer color and draw the objects on the appropriate layer. This method keeps your drawing organized. The other method is to use the Color Control feature on the Properties panel. To select the Color Control pull-down feature, The three tabs of the Select Color dialog box allow you to choose among different methods to determine the color for your drawing entities. The True Color tab allows you to set color to either RGB, which stands for Red, Green, Blue, the primary colors of light, or HSL, which stands for the Hue, Saturation, and Luminance of the color. The Color Books tab lets you select from among different standard ink manufacturer’s predefined color...

Differences in 3D SolidWorks and AutoCad 2D

3D design uses Solidworks, custom size and 2D Autocad Working Drawings. Usually used for review of Architecture, Design, Electrical, and Engineering. solidworks vs autocad 2. Because of the SolidWorks software, it allows you to test and revise your design products. Differences between SolidWorks and AutoCad, SolidWorks itself is a 3D CAD computer aided design mechanical software program. SolidWorks and AutoCAD are two different CAD platforms with each having its own significance. Here we offer: Figure 3 Dimensions of Assembly and Part Drawings. I need an interior design with ambience that I have specified and can render according to my example SolidWorks is a solid computer-aided design (CAD) modeling and computer-aided engineering. Directly competitive products to SolidWorks include PTC Creo Elements / Pro, Solid Edge, and Autodesk Inventor. SolidWorks also partners with. CAD (Computer Aided Design) and CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) are very important computer software. This s...

Right click menu in solidworks customize
